VideoScreen 3 is a suite of Plug-In Objects that allows VectorWorks® users to insert models of video devices, like projection screens, plasma televisions, and CRT monitors in their drawings.

VideoScreen 3 works with VectorWorks® versions 12.5 or newer - INCLUDING 2009 - and will run on both Windows and Mac computers.


VideoScreen 3 comes with a collection of stock symbols. Users' custom symbols can also be easily added.

VideoScreen 3 allows users to change the screen content (stock and custom) of each object easily - without the usual hassle with texture mapping.

VideoScreen 3 - Basic
(includes VS3-Projection and VS3-Television)
VideoScreen Elevation

VS3-Projection inserts projection screens. Using this tool...

  • Projection screens can be front or rear-projection.
  • Screens can be rectangular or round.
  • Sizes can be infinitaly defined - from 100% custom to one of several common rectangular aspects. VS3-Projection will help to calculate width or height based on aspect - and can even accomodate screens that are flipped 90 degrees.
  • Folding or tripod legs can be easily created - including screen dress kits with adjustable dimensions and softgoods details.
  • Projectors are placed in 2-D and 3-D space based on screen size and projector lens rating. Lens definitions are user-selectable - either stock (zoom and fixed) or custom.
  • Any of several generic projector models can be inserted - icluding some in flying cages. Models (including appropriate aspect calculation modifications) have been added for projectors on their sides.
  • Side-by-side and stacked projector configurations can created.
  • Users have different projector placement options, such as flown with a specified trim height, aligned with the screen, or placed on floor stands. Stock floor stands, such as scaffolding, AV carts, and tables are included. NEW TO VERSION 3.1 is the ability to shift the projector(s) side-to-side reletive to the screen.
  • Projection cone visibility can be turned on and off.
  • Screen and lens text can be displayed and dragged in the models. Things like screen size, lens rating, and projection distances can be shown. NEW TO VERSION 3.1, each text element within a VS3-Projection instance has individual sizing and color options.
  • A "Coverage Zone" feature can be used to aid users in the sizing and placing of screens.
  • Different model elements can be placed into different VectorWorks® Classes.

  • Models of plasmas, LCDs, and CRTs can be inserted. Several stock models are included. Custom models can be easily added.
  • Portrait and landscape-oriented plasma models can be inserted.
  • Stand heights are adjustable for certain plasma models.
  • A "Coverage Zone" feature can be used to aid users in the sizing and placing of monitors.

Blended Plan

Starting with the key features of VS3-Projection, VS3-Blended allows users to create edge-blended projection models. Using this tool...

  • Projectors are placed based on a user-defined screen size, desired screen area count (also user-defined), and projector aspect.
  • Projectors are independent "child" objects of the screen, allowing separate text display and position settings.
  • A plethora of estimates, including projector placement and spacing, and area overlap (in pixels and dimensions) can be displayed.
  • Screen and projector lens text can be displayed and dragged in the models. Things like screen size, lens rating, and projection distances can be shown. NEW TO VERSION 3.1, each text element within a VS3-Blended instance has individual sizing and color options.
  • A "Coverage Zone" feature can be used to aid users in the sizing and placing of screens.

StageLift is a Plug-In Objects that allows VectorWorks® users to insert models of crank-style stage lifts (similar to the "real" products offered by Genie® and Sumner®) in their drawings.

Fork height, width, and position are easily changed through VectorWorks'® familiar Object Info Palette.

Select text can be displayed in each StageLift instance.

StageLift works with Windows and Mac VectorWorks® versions 12.5 or newer.
